my garden path
As a renter in one of the world’s most expensive cities, I am grateful to garden wherever I am able – currently, my landlord’s backyard just north of downtown Los Angeles.
Confronted with the blank slate of a former trash heap, I began with dreams of regenerating the soil and providing food for myself at the dawn of a global pandemic.
Over subsequent seasons, my interests expanded to companion planting for beneficial insects, incorporating native perennials, and providing a cutting garden for my increasingly elaborate flower + herbal arrangements.
The garden is now part of a larger ecosystem, offering chemical-free refuge for wildlife, artists, neighbors, and community organizers nurturing positive visions for the future.
I dream of one day expanding into a small-scale urban flower farm and continuing to help grow Los Angeles into a Garden City.
